CRUCIFIXION: Sadequain’s painting sets record for Pakistani art in UK

LONDON: Pakistan’s most admired and versatile painter, calligrapher Sadequain’s art work ‘Crucifixion’ made history for Pakistani art when it was sold a record breaking £118,750 (around 16 million Pakistani rupees) The painting was initially estimated of around £60,000-90,000. A bidder anonymously offered top price for the artwork of legendary Pakistani artist Sadequain, whose work has won worldwide acclaim for its depth and meaning. To mark Pakistan’s 70th Independence Day, international auction house, Bonhams, dedicated its sale entirely to Pakistani art and sourced work of 21 Pakistani artists. Ghazala Irshad BEYOND THE SHADOWS

Ghazala Irshad, a Pakistani self taught artist whose unusual color selection give her paintings a unique touch & aura. Each of her paintings, elevate the other as a result of her own mixing and application techniques. Her work comes from a personal imagery, whether figurative or other, Imagination plays a vital role in her paintings. Started painting as a hobby and virtually ended up collecting enough paintings to venture into the world of Art with her first solo exhibition titled “Women”, in 1989 (Media being oil on paper/canvas).  Since then she has displayed her work in two group shows in Muscat (Oman). Her series “ The Mask” exhibited in Karachi in 2009 and “Checkered” series in 2017 at Art Chowk.

Jimmy Engineer's painting on permanent display at China's National Art Museum

Beijing: China’s National Art Museum is going to permanently display a painting of renowned Pakistani artist Jimmy Engineer. The artist who is also a social worker handed over one of his rare painting to the curator of the China National Art Museum on Wednesday. Pakistani Ambassador to China Masood Khalid was also present there with other officials from the Embassy of Pakistan and National Art Museum. Speaking at the event, Khalid Maood lauded Jimmy Engineer for encouraging a soft image of Pakistan, adding that the artist’s first exhibition last week attracted Chinese audience and received appreciation. He said, the paintings of the versatile Pakistani artist had been selected for display by different museums of the world while he had received a number of national and international medals and awards as recognition of his artwork.

Soraya Sikander Displays Her New Work ' Inscape ' at Unicorn Gallery Lahore

One of Pakistan's prominent, artist Soraya Sikander presents a new series of nature-based paintings in her upcoming exhibition INSCAPE.
