KARACHI, June 24: The Dawn Media Group’s “All About Lifestyles Summer-2010” exhibition opens at 3pm on Friday at the Karachi Expo Centre. The family-only event will continue on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 10pm.

According to the organisers, the exhibition brings over 200 exhibitors of the finest brands and more than 300,000 visitors together every year.

Spread over six halls and the entire complex of the Expo Centre, this year’s event will have the added attraction of Faces & Places, a photographic exhibition displaying works by Tapu Javeri, Owais Yakub, Imran Awan, Shah Murad and Zain Mankani.

Zubaida Tariq, fondly known as Zubaida Apa, passed away late on Thursday night after a brief illness. Her funeral prayers were offered at Sultan Masjid in Karachi's Defence Housing Authority area. Zubaida Apa was famous for her culinary skills and housekeeping advice (totkas). A household name, she hosted several widely viewed culinary shows and wrote cookbooks.

CRUCIFIXION: Sadequain’s painting sets record for Pakistani art in UK

LONDON: Pakistan’s most admired and versatile painter, calligrapher Sadequain’s art work ‘Crucifixion’ made history for Pakistani art when it was sold a record breaking £118,750 (around 16 million Pakistani rupees) The painting was initially estimated of around £60,000-90,000. A bidder anonymously offered top price for the artwork of legendary Pakistani artist Sadequain, whose work has won worldwide acclaim for its depth and meaning. To mark Pakistan’s 70th Independence Day, international auction house, Bonhams, dedicated its sale entirely to Pakistani art and sourced work of 21 Pakistani artists.
