Pakistan Chowk Initiative: A Cultural Activity In Karachi

Join Ahmed Anver and team this Sunday at their "Angan" for a Mulaqat over Chai. It will be an informal "baithak" where artists of old town, the residents of the area and people from all over the city will gather.
Present will be Mr. Akram Ahsan Siddiqui, born in 1939 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and migrated to Pakistan Chowk in 1950.
Also present will be Dr. Asif Farrukhi, Interim Dean & Associate Professor, SAHSS at Habib University and a fiction-writer, critic and translator.

Soraya Sikander Displays Her New Work ' Inscape ' at Unicorn Gallery Lahore

One of Pakistan's prominent, artist Soraya Sikander presents a new series of nature-based paintings in her upcoming exhibition INSCAPE. These artworks shall be presented for the first time at the prestigious Unicorn Gallery in their Lahore branch in Gulberg on 28 February 2017.

INSCAPE SORAYA SIKANDERThese paintings reference actual locations, describing the idea of being at a place – as seen through the mind’s eye. This will be the artist’s fifteenth exhibition. Soraya Sikander has exhibited at leading galleries and museums in UK, Singapore, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Wassenaar, Hague, Dhaka etc.

A Russian silver decanter, Alexander Nikolaevich Sokolov, St. Petersburg, circa 1890 was auctioned at Sotheby's for USD 75,000
In the Russian Style, modeled as a standing cockerel, richly chased to emphasize the texture of the feathers, with a luxurious tail of strapwork ornament, the interior gilded, 84 standard, 24.4 oz., 758.92 grams and height 9 in. (22.8 cm).

Zaha Hadid Passes Away

Zaha Hadid, the world renown architect passed away on 31 March 2016.
Zaha Muhammad Hadid, born in Baghda, Iraq on 31 October, 1950 was the first women and and the first muslim architect to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004. Her extraordinary talent is reflected in her works that include MAXXI National Museum of the 21st. century Arts (Rome), Bridge Pavilion, Maggie's Centres, Contemporary Arts Center, Sheikh Zayed Bridge and many more.

The US $ 100,000 Pritzker Architecture Prize is awarded annually "to honor a living architect or architects whose built work demonstrates a combination of those qualities of talent, vision and commitment, which has produced consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture.

Hassan Shah Gilani and Natasha Humera Ejaz art at Full Circle Gallery Karachi

KARACHI: Two Islamabad-based creative artists Hassan Shah Gilani and Natasha Humera Ejaz have displayed their work of art through pen and pencil, at Full Circle Gallery. The exhibition, which consists of sketches and pen work, is a combination of randomness and intricacy.
The exhibition will continue till March 18.
