Russian silver decanter auctioned for USD 75000

A Russian silver decanter, Alexander Nikolaevich Sokolov, St. Petersburg, circa 1890 was auctioned at Sotheby's for USD 75,000 In the Russian Style, modeled as a standing cockerel, richly chased to emphasize the texture of the feathers, with a luxurious tail of strapwork ornament, the interior gilded, 84 standard, 24.4 oz., 758.92 grams and height 9 in. (22.8 cm).

Zaha Hadid Passes Away

Zaha Hadid, the world renown architect passed away on 31 March 2016. Zaha Muhammad Hadid, born in Baghda, Iraq on 31 October, 1950 was the first women and and the first muslim architect to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004. Her extraordinary talent is reflected in her works that include MAXXI National Museum of the 21st. century Arts (Rome), Bridge Pavilion, Maggie's Centres, Contemporary Arts Center, Sheikh Zayed Bridge and many more. The US $ 100,000 Pritzker Architecture Prize is awarded annually "to honor a living architect or architects whose built work demonstrates a combination of those qualities of talent, vision and commitment, which has produced consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture. #ZahaHadid
